The biggest myth about hard work

If you are part of the millennial generation and you’re trying to get yourself together, you have probably heard an endless number of quotes sayings about hard work. I think there is a huge misconception that is being instilled on the people regarding what it means to be a hard worker specially among the younger generation like myself.

This message that’s is being spread all over social media momentarily may seem logical and easy to digest however I believe in the long run I think it will do more harm than good to your life if you somehow decide to practice it. So, in today’s video we will debunk this age-old myth surrounding hard work and success.

I you’re are moderately active on social media weather it’s Ig, TikTok or YouTube, you may have come across videos of people discussing ideas along the lines of how you shouldn’t be hard on yourself when it comes to work and that you should allow yourself some luxury, about the importance of work life balance and when you see such videos online at face value, they may seem harmless as they cater to our emotions because if we are being honest lots of people are going through tough times and the want to comforted, they want to be told to take it easy and that everything will be okay. You know the old it’s not you, it’s them shenanigans.

I don’t about you but I personally think internalizing thoughts of such nature could quickly evolve into self-pity and before you know it, YOU ARE BACK IN YOU COMFORT ZONE!!! AND IF YOU WANNA MAKE SOMETHING MAGNIFICIENT OUT OF LIFE YOU WANNA STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THE COMFORT ZONE AS POSSIBLE

I find it funny that the people who are purporting these types of messages are mostly people who have accomplished something for themselves and have eventually decided to lay back, take things slow and enjoy life. Of course, these people want to “take it easy” because the have gotten somewhere in life. They have gone through the trials and tribulations of making something happen. Deep down, they know what it takes to succeed in life. Yet, they are telling you things which simply don’t apply to you.

The way I see it, if you haven’t accomplished anything significant in your life, you simply don’t have the luxury of taking it easy. What else are you going to do with your time Watch Netflix? Chill out with your friends? Travel? (You don’t even have the money to do that) so No….!

The other thing that frequently hear people say is how you should “work smart not hard” if you’re not disciplined enough to work hard how the hell are you going to figure out the smartest way of doing things?

I’m sure before you clicked on this video, I bet most you thought it was going to be a video that’s going to tell you otherwise. A video about how not to work hard and how to just let things happen while you sit back and enjoy life but no I don’t believe in that. In life, either you take what you want or accept what’s handed to you and I refuse to leave things up to circumstances.

Okay, I understand that the word success means different things to different people but whenever I had discussions with people, they usually gave me a combination of the following three things.

1. They want to be financially independent
2. They want to be healthy
3. They want to have a smooth relationship with the people close to them

And sure, all of these three things are important. But if we’re being honest. If you haven’t accomplished anything meaningful or at least are not actively working towards making your dreams a reality, you truly can’t feel content in life. There will always be that voice in your head telling you you’re not good enough and that will definitely take a toll on your health and also negatively affect the relationship you have with people.

So, what I am saying is simple, stop listening to people who tell you to stop pushing yourself and that you’re fine as you are. Because 10, 20 years down the line… who are you going to hold accountable?? Who are you going to blame when you have failed in life miserably. Are you going to say you listened to the wrong people, that’s just utter foolishness!

You better keep head down and work hard because you have no other choice there no such thing us a grey area when it comes to success either you win or you lose. The choice is yours.
